The Spreading of the Gospel by Dedicated Disciples and Powerful Persecutors

The Spreading of the Gospel
by Dedicated Disciples and Powerful Persecutors
Acts 13:49-52

In Acts chapter 13, God used two entirely different groups of people to accomplish the same purpose: the spreading of the gospel.  God used dedicated disciples and God used powerful persecutors.

1. The true gospel ? the message of Jesus’ death and resurrection ? is the word of the Lord (Acts 13:49).

2. The gospel message can be spread effectively throughout an entire community, but it takes a group effort (Acts 13:49).

3. God overrules opposition and mistreatment of His witnesses, and He enables the gospel to spread (Acts 13:50-51).

4. The indwelling Holy Spirit gives joy no matter what the circumstances (Acts 13:52).

Our response to the truth of the word of God:

Be filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:52; Ephesians 5:18).
